Why Get a Liner For Your Woven Wood Shades?

Updated March 2024

Woven wood shades showcase high quality artistry and workmanship with its woven natural elements. One way you can add even more quality to these shades is by adding a liner.

Liners offer a crisp look for your window treatments, and its light weight helps keep the shades’ shape intact. They’re usually attached to the back of a window covering and face the exterior. In this post, we’ll go over the benefits of liners and the type of liners offered at SelectBlinds.

3 Benefits of Adding a Liner

Better Insulation

Liners add an extra layer of insulation between your interior and incoming heat, cold, and noise. Enjoy a more temperature regulated and quieter room.

Better Light Control

When you add a liner, it helps filter UV rays and increases protection for the window treatment, furniture and indoor space.

Better Privacy Control

Liners are especially effective for certain woven wood shades. Depending on how loose the weave is, some shades are relatively see through, and liners can cover those gaps and provide more privacy, especially at night.

Types of Shade Liners

The majority of SelectBlinds woven wood shades come without a liner to maximize the amount of light coming in. Liners typically come in a white or off-white color for a consistent look. These are the upgrade options available:

Standard, Light-Filtering or Privacy Liner – A standard shade liner (often called a privacy liner or light-filtering liner) usually consists of lightweight fabric to add weight to reinforce your shade’s thickness. Standard liners still allow light to filter in while increasing your privacy.

Room-Darkening Liner – These thicker liners are great for bedrooms and media rooms, and even your home office. They don’t block out as much light as a blackout liner, but you’ll still get a subdued lighting effect.

Blackout Liner – These liners are ideal for bedrooms and media rooms, and they can block up to 99% of incoming light and glare. They tend to be the heaviest weight out of all the liner options.

While liners are often attached, there are three products that have moveable liners so that you can have varying amounts of light control! The shades below offer moveable and attached light filtering and blackout liners.
